Justin Yashouafar | Managing Partner
Justin first learned about and began researching Bitcoin in 2011. In the summer of 2016, together with several investment banking peers, he developed a thesis to invest in Bitcoin as a hedge against sovereign currency collapse, potential hyperinflation, and a mounting global debt crisis. After deploying capital based on this thesis, Justin fell down the crypto rabbit hole when he learned about the industry-shifting potential of smart-contract enabled blockchain platforms. Justin is a transactional attorney by trade and has counseled and advised family offices, institutional funds, and publicly traded investment trusts, as well as seed and growth stage companies including WeWork, Cross Campus, and Mitú.
Matthew Kaye | Managing Partner
Matthew first mined Bitcoin in 2013 after learning about the democratic nature of Bitcoin token distribution. After graduating from university, Matthew joined a boutique Los Angeles based venture capital firm. Shortly thereafter, he stepped into a founder role of an emerging market subscription business backed by his former firm, during which he grappled with the specific issues related to international remittances in highly regulated industries. Based on his experience, Matthew saw Bitcoin as a legitimate solution to the legacy banking problem and began investing in the industry on that basis. Previously, Matthew consulted on the digital buildout of both a Google Venture backed startup and an unsupervised learning A.I.-driven startup.
